Cheap Trick connut un succès rapide au Japon et capitalisa sur cette popularité en enregistrant « Cheap Trick » au Budokan de Tokyo les 28 et 30 avril 1978, devant un public de 12 000 fans japonais en délire, couvrant parfois presque le groupe. Le concert filmé avait initialement été diffusé à la télévision japonaise et n'avait été commercialisé qu'avec l'édition 30e anniversaire, Budokan!, sortie le 11 novembre 2008.
